Look Back - Gucci Resort 2010

Since we have been viewing all the new resort looks, I thought that for this edition of 'Look Back' we would look at one of my favourite resort collections which is, Gucci Resort 2010.

Designer: Frida Giannini

My Top Four Looks From The Collection:

(Karmen Pedaru & Lindsay Ellingson)
Gucci Resort 2010
(Abby Lee Kershaw & Lindsay Ellingson)

This is one of the best resort collections for a sun filled holiday like Ibiza. It truly embodied holiday wear and I also loved it because you could still wear the items when you returned from your trip. The mosaic print and embroidery were gorgeous. The shoes and bags were amazing. I loved every item in this collection, it's the perfect collection for a woman who likes to travel in style. This has to go in 'Ronnie O's Fashion Hall of Fame'. Here is most of the show. Enjoy!!!

Temperley London - Resort 2013

I love Alice Temperley she is just one of those designers whose clothes speak to me, and when I saw this collection the expression 'kid in a candy store' came to mind as I wanted everything I laid my eyes on.

Temperley took her inspiration from the '50s and '60s and gave us a collection filled with demure classics. She gave us dresses in bright red, cream, black, and blue jewel tones, great ankle length trousers with beautiful clean lines and a masculine white suit with a double-breasted jacket and wide-leg pants. This collection is just so chic, so cool, so timeless and so elegant. I love how simple it is. Another thing I love about this collection is, if you look at it without the accessories it transforms into great day to day wear that you can incorporate into your wardrobe once you have returned from your holiday. This is definitely another one of my favourite resort collections I have to put it in the 'Ronnie O's Fashion Hall of Fame'.

Focus On - Elie Saab

Elie Saab
(Elie Saab Backstage at the Fall/Winter 2011/2012 Haute Couture Show)

  • In 1982, Elie Saab opened his workshop in Paris.
  • In 1997, hewas the first non-Italian designer to become a member of the Italian Camera Nazionale della Moda.
  • In 1998, he started his ready-to-wear collection in Milan.
  • In May 2003, the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture invited him to become a member, and on July 2003, he showed his first haute couture collection in Paris.
  • In 2006, he showed his first ready-to-wear collection in Paris.

Elie Saab is truly one of my favourite designers especially when it comes to evening gowns. He has created the most beautiful, delicately beaded and sequined evening gowns I have ever seen. For one of his collections he said his inspiration was a "goddess taking a walk during dawn under the dew", and i think any woman wearing his gown would feel like a goddess because they would certainly look like one, I have never seen a woman who does not look amazing in one of his dresses, his gowns are well constructed and move so elegantly, no other designer can replicate him.

(Magdalena Frackowiak in Elie Saab Fall/Winter 2011 Ready-to-Wear)

My favourite collection from Elie Saab has to be the Fall 2011 Couture Collection. I love this collection so much, I remember the first time I saw this collection it was really early in the morning because my sister saw it and decided it could not wait, so she woke me up to see it, and she's not really into fashion, but even she realised how serious the collection was. I think I had only had like 3 hours of sleep that day but once I saw the collection I could not go back to bed I just kept watching it over and over again and each time I fell more in love with it. I am literally obsessed with this collection, so it can't be surprising to you that it's going into 'Ronnie O's Fashion Hall of Fame'. Enjoy.

Focus On - Lily Donaldson & Alber Elbaz

Another thing I will be doing on this blog is my 'Focus On' post which looks at a certain model or designer. The model I have chosen for my first post of the series is ..............

Lily Donaldson
(Spanish Vogue May 2012: Alexi Lubomirski - Photographer, Belen Antolin - Fashion Editor/Stylist)

Agencies
New York - IMG
Paris - IMG Paris
Milan - IMG Milano
London - Storm Model Management

Born on January 27, 1988 in the United Kingdom & discovered in 2003 at the age of 16 in Camden. Years later, her face has featured in ad campaigns for Dior, Jil Sander, Dolce & Gabbana and she has been the face of Gucci and Burberry.

(British Vogue March 2011: Lachlan Bailey - Photographer, Miranda Almond - Fashion Editor/Stylist)

The thing I love most about Lily is her face, she has so many great angles her jawline is beautiful and she really knows how to position her face to get the most striking pictures.

(Vogue Japan July 2010: Josh Olins - Photographer, Charlotte Stockdale - Fashion Editor/Stylist)

The first time I really took notice of Lily was during the Lanvin Fall 08 RTW show. She walked down the runway with a screwed up face and was so different to any model I had seen before, I then found out that she was the muse of Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz. So it only makes sense that the designer we focus on today is..............

Alber Elbaz
(Alber Elbaz Backstage at the Lanvin Spring/Summer 2009 Show)

  • Alber is the creative director for Lanvin, a post he has held since 2001 prior to that he was,
  • Creative director of French couture house Guy Laroche in 1996.
  • Designed women's RTW for YSL in 1998.
  • He then went on to work for Krizia Italy but left after three months.
  • In 2010, he created a high street collaboration collection with H&M.

(Frida Gustavsson in Lanvin Spring/Summer 2011 Ready-to-Wear)

I love this guy his designs are so amazing, I know I use that word a lot but he is truly a great designer. Alber once said “I am here to make her look and feel good about herself.” and I feel that is exactly what he does with his one shoulder gowns and taffeta trenches. I found this quote by Simon Doonan, the creative director of Barneys New York “Alber’s clothes are like crack,” and I could not agree more because I feel like once you have worn one of his pieces you will always want more. To me he is like a poet who tells a story with his collection and everything rhymes so well, that sounds so cheesy but it's truly how I feel every time I see one of his collections.

(Jac in Lanvin Spring/Summer 2012 Ready-to-Wear)

My favourite collections of Alber has to be the Fall 2008 RTW. The way he took strips of ribbon to create beautiful dresses, skirts & blouses was pure genius and this was a really great Fall Collection because it had every piece you could possibly need, from plain wool day dresses and pantsuits to luxury fur and patent coats and his signature asymmetric body-molding cocktail dresses. This collection was so great that I have to put it in 'Ronnie O's Fashion Hall of Fame'. Enjoy.
